1. to foster communication and mentoring among women lawyers;
2. to foster and encourage the involvement and interest of women lawyers in the community;
3. to strengthen the image of women lawyers in the community;
4. to work towards the enhancement of the public perception of the legal profession;
5. to assist and support the Bar Association in furtherance of their goals and projects.
ABOUT WLS HISTORY
In 2009 the Women Lawyers Section “WLS” became the first section approved and created in the Williamson County Bar Association.
Prior to 2009 women lawyers would meet for informal networking luncheons. Women lawyers mentored and supported each other in and out of the court rooms. These actions set the foundation for the Women Lawyers Section.
In 2009, a small group of women lawyers in Williamson County pursued the formal creation of the Women Lawyers Section. On December 2, 2009, the Williamson County Bar Association approved and created the Women Lawyers Section or "WLS". The founding members included, Laura Gonzalez Taylor, Laura B. Barker, Jackie Borcherding, Kimberly Wisniewski Batrice, Dianne Clark and Blayre Pena. Since its creation, WLS has promoted networking and mentoring among women lawyers, promoted community service projects and has worked towards enhancing the image of women lawyers in the community.
